If you’ve been wondering what we’ve been up to the past couple of months, you’ll be pleased to know that we’ve been beavering away on some exciting new features.

New and Coming Soon in June

Our new follow-up messages and rebooking reminders are almost ready, point of sale on the iPad and iPhone app is imminent, and we’ve also been working on the usual enhancements and bug squishing. Let’s take a closer look!

New Customer Messages – Coming Soon!

We know you care about your clients and the experience they have with your business. Staying in touch is a vital part of that. Our new set-and-forget customer messages are perfect for keeping your customer experience going. Use them to remind your clients to rebook, send a follow-up message after an appointment with aftercare instructions, or a request to review your business online.

You’ll be able to set up as many messages as you like, using either email or SMS to stay in touch with your customers. Rules can be set up based on appointment status, service and more.

With our simple message settings, you’re always in full control of when the message is sent and to who. If there’s one thing we know it’s that showing clients you care starts before, and continues well after, they’ve left your business.

These messages are currently in the testing phase, and will be released in the coming weeks. Yippee!

Point of Sale on our iPad/iPhone app – Coming Soon!

Since building our iOS app we’ve continued to improve and enhance the native experience. Our next step is a big one, a rather large stride. We’re adding Point of Sale to our iOS app! This means you can process a sale using your iPad or iPhone. It also means you won’t need to hover around the reception desk to complete a sale. Wahoo! Work on this feature is going well, and we expect to have this ready for use in July.

Enhancements

In amongst working on big features, we’re always tinkering away making smaller improvements to Timely based on feedback we receive from you, our customers. Here’s a few bits and bobs we’ve added in the past month and a bit:

  • New ’emailed’ icon for invoices: We’ve added a nifty new envelope icon on the Sales > View invoices page so you can see at a glance if an invoice has been emailed to a customer.
  • MailChimp API upgrade: We’ve upgraded our integration with MailChimp to use their most up to date API. This was an important change, as the API we were using was out of date.
  • More details on the ‘Deleted customers’ report: We made a small tweak to show the timestamp of when a customer was deleted from Timely on the Deleted customers report. You’ll be able to see the date and time of the deletion in UTC.
  • PayPal reference numbers on invoices: We now show the PayPal payment reference on invoices paid via PayPal. This also shows on the Transaction summary report.

Bug fixes

When you’re updating software as often as we update Timely, bugs can sometimes creep in, which can cause funny issues to crop up from time to time. A bug is a glitch in the system, and is a normal part of the software development process. They’re usually small and easily fixed!

Almost all bugs are reported to us by you, so thank you and keep it up! We include all bug fixes in our Changelog, so hop over there and check it out if you’re interested.
